Social media blocked in Turkey following the operation on HDP

“I refuse to be a walk-on extra in the judiciary show launched because Erdoğan with all his dubious political past ordered so. I will not answer any questions you ask, and I have no faith that any act of judgment will be just. I have no demands and no expectations from you. Only my people who elected me can judge me for my political activities”, she said in her statement at court earlier today.

Yüksekdağ, Co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which is the only party implementing the co-chair system in Turkey with an equal representation of women, has sent a message to women after her arrest.

Yüksekdağ sent her greetings to all women and called upon them to continue to be joyous and resilient. She is now being taken from Amed to be transferred to a prison which is not disclosed yet.

DBP Co-chair Tuncel: Nobody should be demoralised. We will resist and definitively win. Fascist mindsets are doomed to lose.

Lawyers from DBP (Democratic Regions’ Party) Law Commission have met DBP Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel who remains in custody since her detention in front of Diyarbakır Courthouse earlier today.

Tuncel sent the following message through the DBP lawyers Şivan Cemil Özen and Cemile Turhallı:

“Every person is a representative itself. Everyone has to do their part. Nobody should be demoralised. We will resist and definitively win. Fascist mindsets are doomed to lose. The arrest of HDP deputies who include Co-chairs is purely an operation of taking hostage. We will never bow down.”

HDP Şırnak MP Ferhat Encü has also been arrested.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP Ferhat Encü was detained in Istanbul last night and taken to Şırnak.

Encü’s interrogation at the prosecutor’s office lasted 3 hours, after which he was referred to court that ordered his arrest Friday evening.

Encü was accused of “alienating the public from military service, terrorist propaganda, incitement to animosity, entering military prohibited zones, attempted murder of a public official for their duty”.

HDP Hakkari MP Selma Irmak was last night taken into custody as a result of a raid on her house in Amed after an instruction by Hakkari Public Prosecutor. Irmak was taken to Hakkari Courthouse together with HDP Hakkari MP Abdullah Zeydan earlier today.

After giving their statements, both deputies were referred to court with a demand for their arrest.

Irmak has been formally arrested Friday evening.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ were detained as part of last night’s operation against the party executives in several cities in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan.

While Demirtaş was detained in Amed, Yüksekdağ was detained in Ankara and then brought to Amed. Both Co-chairs have been taken to Diyarbakır Courthouse where they made a joint statement alongside other detained MPs of the party earlier today.

Referred to court with a demand for their arrest, both Co-chairs have been remanded in custody Friday afternoon.

HDP Mardin MP Gülser Yıldırım who was detained within the scope of the operation against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) last night, has been arrested by a court she was referred to earlier today.
